Typhoon Days and Inflatables

There's humid.  And then there's the humid that comes from 36 hours of typhoon.  Whoa.  Let's just say that it takes several hair ties to control Townes' hair in this weather.

School and work were closed for two days due to Typhoon Haikui.  Totally understood why we needed to stay inside on Wednesday.  It was just ridiculous out.  Thursday was actually fine, but we enjoyed some more quality time together nonetheless.  Really.

There were lots of tree limbs down, signs blown over, giant pieces of metal clanging loosely from the 26th floor of the building down the street (yikes), but overall things look good in the neighborhood.

Bamboo down.

Oops.

Luckily, the day before the storm, we signed up to be toy testers for Bestway Inflatables.  Two nice college kids from Stanford (interning with Bestway for the summer) came over to interview the kids about what they like to play with, etc.  They left us with a bunch of blowup toys and some craft materials and suggestions.  Perfect timing.  Plus some rafts, which could have come in handy during typhoon mishaps.

We LOVE the ball, but also the punching bag in the background.  His name is Bob.

Innertubes or Hula Hoops, you be the judge.

After the typhoon, things got back to normal.  Townes is taking two hours of Game Maker (video game programming) class a day.  Me and Naomi are doing back to school shopping.  Eli is already back in school (and NOT happy about it right now).  He's also busy with his new favorite thing.

As noted above, Eli is not happy about going back to school.  He's NOT happy about leaving Vermont.  And he's not happy about how many sleeps it will be before he can go back home.  He is, however, happy to talk about all of these things with you.  All day long.  We may have finally pushed him to his limit in terms of number of transitions we have expected him to make.  I'm confident he'll recover, but in the mean time send him lots of loving thoughts :).

We keep reminding him that there are lots of great things about living here right now.

Our unanimous favorite family meal.

On the up side, Townes is now happy here.  Go figure.  And much to his chagrin, he's even excited about starting school in a few weeks.

Grooving to the music at the Bose store.
