Springtime in Shanghai

Springtime in Shanghai means dead pigs in the river, bird flu in the air, but also beautiful sunny days, clear air (at last!), and blossoming trees.

Reassuring note from Naomi and Townes' school.

Trees and blue sky outside Eli's school.

There's also been talent shows and car shows; spelling bees and graduation from training wheels; Montreal smoked meat and seaweed and sushi; visits to the electronics market and rides on a delivery tricycle.  Oh, and did I mention two down with strep and one with a weird rash?  Angst and homesickness and an unresponsive landlady?

Townes down with strep.  Oh my were his tonsils large.

Deep thoughts outside the Shanghai Library.

Not the prettiest dumplings but delicious and homemade.

Naomi and her friend Holly dancing at the school talent show.

Naomi (second from right) and all the 7th grade girls dancing.

Saw this on the wall at Naomi and Townes' school.  I know we always have corn congee for Christmas dinner??

Townes winning third place in the all 4th grade spelling bee.

Spring is lovely but also a bit frightening...

Bye bye training wheels!

Hello biggest car show in the world!  Yes, that's Nicholas Cage on the billboard.

You can find anything at the Electonics Market.  Garfield phones, hand grenade lighters, and old circuit boards.

New restaurant in town.  Montreal smoked meat and poutine.  And the best coleslaw Eli had eaten all week.

Flower man delivers our new plant and our Eli.

And then there is always this...
